Yeah,  you need to polish when you've applied primer, because that's the way to get the sculpt really smooth. Polishing small detail is simply a matter of using a small grid sandpaper and folding it, so it can reach all nooks and corners fo the sculpt :).

What area would you like to sand? Usually when I fold the piece of sandpaper like a pointy arrow, I can get anywhere I want. Sometimes I need to bend the tip a bit and use the tip's side, so I can get a curved area sanded.

Yeah, for that area I usually take a piece of sandpaper that I've folded. Sometimes I'm using on of those claytools with a tiny rasp on both sides, if I can reach, but mostly it is just being veeerrrry patient and sand over and over again :).

Well, in the case of sculpting, an aerosol primer is used to finish the sculpt and prep it for casting. Using a primer, you can make sure that the surface is completely smooth and no longer has any dents, or other irregularities you want to get rid off before making a mold.

When using an air-dry clay, priming the sculpt is even necessary, because otherwise the sculpt gets water damage when you're making a mold.

Thanks! It look a bit longer than expected (I always forget to calculate unexpected reallife events when I give myself a deadline), but I've made a cast of him and am currently polishing him.

Soon, I'll be sending him off to Dollshe!

He looks really good all smoothed out and primered and with eyes! :D Wow! I mean I liked him before but I guess eyes just help me get a better feel for a sculpt! He has such great facial structure and features!

I'm the same. I never really know what the face is going to look like, until I've given him some eyes and a few coats. Eyes are so important to give a doll 'presence'.
